WUNDERBAR FESTIVAL 2011

Wunderbar is a dynamic festival of contemporary performance, visual art, and extraordinary happenings for the North East. Wunderbar is a place for activity, spontaneity, society, interaction, dialogue and play - and is a festival with festivity at its heart. For one week Wunderbar will be setting up camp and inviting you to join us in making the festival come alive.

Around Newcastle and Gateshead we'll be creating a school, a library, a radio station, an office, a cafe, and inviting you to be our guests - pupils, readers, workers and tea drinkers. There'll be a disco and karaoke, gigs, theatre and film, guided walks and much conversation - all with a special Wunderbar twist.

We're calling on individuals to get involved in many different ways - as what they bring will help shape the festival. We need a strong team of people to help us spread the word, support the artists and create that buzz around town so if you know anyone who might be interested in getting involved as a Festival Volunteer please signpost them to the the Wunderbar Festival volunteer application form.

There are many ways to volunteer at Wunderbar from working on the ground during the festival as part of our street team, to assisting with marketing, artist liaison and event production. We will strive to provide every volunteer with an experience of the festival tailored to their skills, passions and interest therefore allowing each volunteer to get as much as possible out of their time with Wunderbar.

So, if you would like to become part of the Wunderbar team please complete the volunteer application form before Monday 3rd October. For further information please contact volunteer@wunderbarfestival.co.uk or visit www.wunderbarfestival.co.uk

This month's volunteering newsletter

This month Community Transport, Contact the Elderly, The Cyrenians, Relate and St Oswald's Hospice have all asked us to promote new ongoing roles in the newsletter we send out to volunteers however the main focus for opportunities this month is the Great North Run on Sunday September 18th.

If you are not one of the thousands of runners then there are numerous opportunities to get involved with the day. Although cheering on runners is the most popular role for the GNR there are other ways volunteers can support charities on this day. Please see the newsletter for full details.

If you are an organisation that has registered with Volunteer Centre Newcastle and would like your role to appear on this page please contact us.

We will publish your role for at least 14 days on this page depending on demand.
