Investing in Volunteers

Some Volunteer Involving Organisations registered with our Centre have expressed an interest in finding out more about the Investing in Volunteers qualification. The text below is taken from the Investing in Volunteers website:

The Investing in Volunteers process has been designed to be an effective and rigorous process to ensure that volunteers receive the best possible management support and that organisations receive themaximum benefit from volunteers' contribution.

The Standard is based on the four areas of volunteer management:

  • planning for volunteer involvement;

  • recruiting volunteers;

  • selecting and matching volunteers;

  • and supporting and retaining volunteers.

These four areas have been divided into 10 Indicators and 55 practices, which have been devised by extensive consultation and pilot work with volunteer-involving organisations.

For more information about achieving this standard please visit the Investing in Volunteers website.

The most common question Volunteer Centre Newcastle has been asked about this standard from the organisations registered with our Centre is 'How much will it cost?'

The answer from the Investing in Volunteers website states 'The cost of Investing in Volunteers will depend on the size and complexity of your organisation and the amount of support and training required.'
