Employee Volunteering

Employee Volunteering is when a company or organisation donates the time of their employees by granting its staff time off in working hours to engage in a volunteering activity, usually a group volunteering activity.

As well as demonstrating corporate responsibility, it allows team building in a non work setting which benefits the local community.

If you represent a company or a central/local government department and you would like to find out more about engaging in a group activity, then our Volunteer Centre may be able to put you in touch with a voluntary or community group which needs help.

Volunteer Centre Newcastle gets many requests from companies or organisations looking for 'one off' volunteering activities their staff can take part in.

Volunteer Centre Newcastle works with organisations and charities who have projects they would love to complete but do not have the staff or volunteers available. These projects can range from decorating, gardening, make-overs and events which when completed would make a big difference to the organisations and those people who access their services.

How it works:

We will discuss with you what type of project your team are looking to complete, how many people you have available, how far you want to travel, which days and hours you would prefer.

We will then contact our 600+ registered organisations to see what projects they need completing.

We will let you know of your options and once you have made your decision we will swap contact details between you and your chosen organisation.

Your Role:

It will then be your responsibility to arrange to meet with your chosen organisation and complete a comprehensive risk assessment of the project, arrange the date and time. It is also usual for your organisation to cover the costs of your group’s expenses such as travel and lunch.

After the event:

Let us know how it went and what great things your team has achieved!

Cost: From 1st September 2010 there will be an admin charge of £50 + VAT for each employee volunteering project you request from us.
