Meet the team: Karen
Hi, I’m Karen. I’ve been a volunteer and a worker within the voluntary sector for several years with an advocacy organisation as their volunteer coordinator and a volunteer. In the team at the volunteer centre I offer additional support to anyone who has a learning disability or wants to talk about mental health issues. Part of my role is to make sure the Centre attends lots of public events to let people know about our services and how to get in touch with us. I help make sure our services are diverse - that means we welcome everyone and try to help them find volunteering they can do, this is because we believe that everyone has something to offer. I also try to make sure that Lesbian Gay and Bisexual (LGB) groups and individuals are represented in the city and in 2007 hope to continue to liaise and develop volunteering opportunities in the LGB community.
