What's been on Volunteer Centre Newcastle celebrated Volunteers' Week at the Newcastle Community Green Festival. We had our own tent where volunteers were invited to come in and share their experiences of volunteering. Volunteers’ Week 2007 Thank You We wish to give a big thank you to all of the people who helped to make Newcastle’s Volunteers’ Week event at the Green Festival a great success. Particular praise goes to the extremely helpful and enthusiastic volunteers who over the weekend: gave out cakes and water, assisted in the set up and clearing of the tent, counted the number of visitors to the tent as well as chatting to people interested in volunteering and looking for more information. The tent had close to 800 visitors over the two days with more than 100 people interested in finding out more about volunteering. We gave out free water from Northumbrian Water and the most delicious cakes donated by the Handmade Cake Company of Maidenhead;and the Doughnuts for our “volunteer” lead doughnut challenge were kindly provided by BakeMark. Special thanks also go to the Millennium Volunteer project who donated funds to cover the cost of the chairs and tables. And also to his Right Worshipful the Lord Major Councillor Peter Arnold and the Lady Mayoress who visited the Volunteer Week tent, met the volunteers and talked to them about their roles and experiences as volunteers. A few photographs of the event are shown below - the DVD will be produced and ready for viewing in a few months. ![]() Setting up the tent ![]() The ideas tree ![]() Open for business ![]() The Mayor and Mayoress drop by ![]() Filming the DVD ![]() Celebrating volunteering |
