About the Centre Volunteer Centre Newcastle opened in September 2005 as a joint project between Newcastle Council for Voluntary Service and CSV Training and Enterprise North East. From April 2008 the Centre has been run by CSV exclusively, based with the CSV office on the 3rd Floor of MEA House.
We are a very busy Centre with approximately 200 new volunteering enquiries from prospective volunteers each month. The centre is staffed by Karen Watson (full-time), Gemma Finch (4 days per week) and Adam Stewart (3 days per week). Gemma was appointed to work on the Positive Choices volunteering programme which aims to reduce the barriers faced by people who identifty as having mental health issues. We offer a free, quality service to anyone interested in volunteering and to any organisation that involves volunteers. We also work with organisations who refer people on to us who may be interested in volunteering. MEA House is based within the City centre of Newcastle and exclusively hosts voluntary sector organisations. |
